The female digital starter weekend Move It Forward+ gave its participants the experience of building a business idea in a sustainable way by providing them with digital skills that they can use in everyday life.

About thirty women had the opportunity to listen to educational and inspiring lectures of our guest lecturers, participate in workshops on creating a website, graphic design and mobile applications, and finally developped their digital solutions designed on the topic of preventing violence against women in the virtual world and reducing menstrual poverty.

  • Lorena Zec, feminist, psychologist and activist, an expert in the field of working with women victims of male violence, held a lecture on “Violence against women in the virtual world” through which she introduced our participants to a very current topic and invited them to reflect on how to suppress virtual violence against women in the future.
  • Marinella Matejčić spoke about menstrual poverty and the destigmatization of menstruation and explained to the participants how and in what way one can get from an idea to concrete action, that is, to measurable changes in society.

At the end of the lecture, Nela Dunato, artist, designer and writer, gave a motivational lecture “Imagine -> learn -> earn” and through her example explained to the participants how to build their entrepreneurial path.

After the lecture part, the participants participated in the workshops on creating a website, creating mobile applications and graphic design in order to gather the knowledge needed to create their own digital solutions. During the second day of the workshop, the participants worked in teams on their projects and devised their own digital solutions that answer the problems posed the day before, and finally presented their ideas in front of a three-member jury consisting of Lorena Zec, Marinella Matejčić and Andrea Ratkajec.

The project “Pomozi mi!” was selected as the most innovative project, designed as a campaign that enables girls aged 8 to 14 who have experienced some form of violence to report the abuse with a simple text message and receive adequate psychological help as soon as possible, as well as help from competent institutions. . The “Donnatorice” project was recognized as the project with the greatest social impact, a donor website that provides free feminine hygiene items to those in need, or rather – connects donors in one place with those who need the donated items the most. The overall best project of the women’s two-day Move It Forward workshop is the “Pomozi si sama” project, a self-help platform that allows women to order boxes of medicinal plant seeds, as well as herbs that help reduce menstrual symptoms.
